Introducing Colourful Girona - A Town Amongst Character

I'd similar to innovate yous to the colourful town of Girona, located a piffling combat to a greater extent than than an hr away from Barcelona. You tin easily instruct at that spot amongst the develop (I paid 24€ for a provide ticket), too you'll equally good enjoy views of the gorgeous Catalan countryside on the way. Girona is famous for the Ryanair airport, that's for sure, but equally good for these picturesque houses along the river Onyar, too for the charm of its cobbled streets.

There's genuinely a storey behind these iconic colourful houses, which are the most photographed usage of Girona. They were built throughout the centuries, but it was solely in the twentieth century they were painted according to a specific palette of colours, created past times painter Enric Ansesa, James J. Faixó too the architects Fuses too J. Viader. Nowadays they hold off similar they are crumbling, but they are altogether pretty beautiful. You could literally pass hours taking pictures of them from dissimilar bridges too angles, or waiting for the perfect low-cal to grab their beauty amongst your photographic telly camera lens.

There are several bridges that cross the river Onyar, ane of them a brilliant scarlet Fe yoke designed past times none other than Gustave Eiffel, too only called "Pont de Ferro" ("Iron Bridge").

I enjoyed walking Girona's soundless cobbled streets, wondering what I would honor behind the adjacent corner. Girona is a town of houses made of stones and walls covered amongst ivy, with staircases that ever Pb to churches amongst imposing portals.

The Romanesque monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants was ane of my favourite buildings inwards town, amongst its beautiful octagonal bell tower.

Girona could most live on inwards Italy, with its narrow streets, its open-air restaurants, too most of all its medieval charm. At the halt of Oct the weather condition was even too hence pretty good, too at that spot were real few tourists, most of them Spanish.

Girona was equally good an of import centre of Jewish civilization inwards Catalonia, earlier Jewish people were expelled from Spain inwards 1492 past times the famous "Reyes Católicos" Isabella too Ferdinando. Nowadays, yous tin see the Museum of the History of Jewish People. Unfortunately, when I visited it was closed. The medieval quarter where they used to live, called Call, is ane of the best preserved inwards Europe, fifty-fifty though it is a combat hard to empathize where it begins too where it ends.

As I've noticed inwards other towns across Catalonia, yous tin gaze at churches from weird angles, for examples from under a steep marble staircase, equally inwards the instance of the "Escalera de San Martín" (Saint Martin's Staircase) in the next picture.
